BUT SERIOUSLY. Now Can John McEnroe play Serena Williams?

The idea has been floating around for a couple of years. And more fuel has been added to the flames now that John McEnroe has claimed that Serena Williams would be ranked “like 700 in men’s tennis.”

As part of a book tour to promote his newest memoir, “But Seriously,” McEnroe stated, “That doesn’t mean I don’t think Serena is an incredible player. I do, but the reality of what would happen on a given day is Serena could beat some players, I believe, because she is so incredibly strong mentally, but if she had to just play the circuit — the men’s circuit — that would be an entirely different story.”

The updated version of “the Battle of the Sexes” was first mentioned President Donald Trump back in 2000, according to McEnroe. The proposal was for McEnroe to play Serena or Venus Williams, but at the time none of players expressed an interest.

Appearing back in 2015 on “The Late Show with Jimmy Kimmel,” McEnroe said that he felt he could still beat Serena Williams if they played a serious match. Back then McEnroe thought that Serena might be able to beat the 500th ranked man.

Now would be a good time for an updated Battle of the Sexes. Many people are upset at McEnroe’s recent comments and the new movie starring Emma Stone and Steve Carrell have set the stage for a ratings winner.

Once Serena Williams has her baby and is ready to play, what would be more entertaining than see her take on John McEnroe. The rest of the women on the WTA would be glad to have Serena  delay coming back to again ruling tennis.

YOU CANNOT BE SERIOUS!
