Roger Federer wins his 9th title in Halle, the 92nd of his amazing career, after giving a 53 minutes’ tennis lesson to Sascha Zverev in the final.
In the beginning, the German looked to be a very tricky hurdle to overcome for the Maestro, but eventually, Roger came out with a great strategy and perfect execution. Roger had the clear idea of breaking the rhythm of his young opponent using a wicked backhand slice and many drop shots.
Everything worked extremely well for the Maestro that won the first set 6-1 in just 22 minutes (and Sascha was even lucky to win that game). The second set was a bit more even with the German trying to bounce back, but once again Roger was too much to gain the decisive break in the 6th game (4-2) before winning this final 6-1 6-3 in just 53 minutes.
I want to enjoy this one. FEDERER
After the match, Roger commented
“I don’t know if I’m ever going to win this tournament again. So I’m just going to enjoy it as much as I can.”
