Federer reaches the semi-final in Halle

Roger Federer had a safe ride in the Halle quarterfinal against Florian Mayer. Ranked no.134, the German was the 2016 titlist, and he is used to having good runs in Halle. Federer has already beaten him three times in this very stadium, but with Florian, you’ll never know. Eventually, Roger won the contest 6-3- 6-4. Even if he didn’t play his best tennis. The Swiss was once again ineffective in the break point conversion to win only 2 of 12 also because he was struggling a lot with his backhand return.

I was calm in both sets. FEDERER

Even if Roger wasn’t at his best, he was pretty happy with his mental approach to comment

“It was important to be aggressive off the baseline and make him feel my variation and the power I can bring to the court; then having good footwork, to see the short ball, the floater, where I can come in and knock it off with a volley. I think I did it very well. I had lots of chances to even go up a double break in the second set.

I thought I was very calm out there, even in difficult moments. I was calm serving out the first and second sets. Those are always signs for me that things are slowly starting to fall into place nicely.”

Next vs. Khachanov

Roger will face Khachavon in the semi-final. They have never played each other so far, but the Russian could be rather dangerous with his firepower.
