52 MINUTES. Federer storms in the Halle 2nd round

Roger Federer has a fantastic start of his Halle campaign after he demolished Yuichi Sugita 6-3 6-1

The Swiss was perfect for the entire match with the exception of the last service game that he lost while he was trying to serve out the match. Eventually, Roger broke the Japanese again in the following game to win the match in just 52 minutes.

Initially, Roger was meant to face Lu, but the Taiwanese withdrew, and Sugita got his place as a lucky loser.

I didn’t know him. FEDERER

After the match, Roger commented

“I found out around the same time that everybody else did, around 12 o’clock, Then I wasn’t sure if it was going to be Sugita or somebody else. I had to wait and see if there were going to be any more changes and a different opponent coming my way. I saw the third-set breaker between Sugita and Youzhny. I saw the last 20 points of that epic match.

I had a little bit of an idea he how plays. I’ve seen him practise here and he’s really made a run recently. I got some info from coaches and other players and coaches, so I got the full scouting report. But of course, I tried to play on my terms.”

Next vs. Mischa Zverev

Roger will face Mischa Zverev in the 2nd round. The head to head is 3-0 for Roger that three years ago defeated the German 6-0 6-0 in Halle.
