Thiem happy with grass transition

Dominic Thiem had a solid stint on clay after he reached the final Barcelona, Madrid and the semi-final Rome and Paris. The Austrian was also the only player that has managed to beat Rafael Nadal (in Rome). Of course, everything is different on grass, and Dominic was eager to have a good transition starting from Halle where he is seeded no.2

Dominic had a tough test against the qualifier Maximilian Marterer, but eventually, he won 7-5 6-2 after saving 7 break points of 7.

Happy with the transition. THIEM

Even if Dominic had to struggle a lot during the match, he didn’t hide his satisfaction for getting to the second round.

The Austrian commented

“I was very happy with it. He already played three matches on the surface, and he qualified here, had a good qualification, has a very dangerous serve. I was very aware of this first round. I was a little bit lucky as well to save all the break points, but I’m happy to be through in two.”

Dominic will face either Ferrer or Haase in the second round.
