Kontaveit wins maiden title in s-Hertogenbosch

The 21-year-old from Estonia is having a fantastic season. She started the 2017 outside the top100 (no.111) before reaching two prestigious quarters in Stuttgart and Rome, the final in Biel, and now she has won her maiden title in ‘s-Hertogenbosch.

Annett made a quick work of Natalia Vikhlyantseva in the final after she defeated the Russian 6-2 6-3. The most important part of the match was the second stint of the second set when the Estonian won 5 consecutive games after she was trailing on a 1-3 scoreline.

Annett was elated with her first career title to comment

“I’m just so excited!

I thought I played a great match and congrats to Natalia for a great week – I hope we’ll have more battles. It’s been amazing for me, I had really tough matches, and I’m so happy to be through them – to win the final, it’s amazing.”

Annett will now head to Mallorca where she will face Roberta Vinci in the opener.
