Naomi Osaka was seen training in Melbourne on Friday as she intensifies her preparation for the Australian Open. The former two-time champion is aiming to make a strong return at the first Grand Slam of the season.
A significant career decision
On Thursday, Osaka revealed on social media that she has rejoined IMG Tennis, leaving behind Evolve, the agency she co-founded with her former agent Stuart Duguid in 2022. Osaka had previously been represented by IMG from 2016 to 2022 before starting her own venture.
The IMG roster
By returning to IMG, Osaka joins a roster that includes Carlos Alcaraz, Iga Swiatek, Emma Raducanu, Taylor Fritz and tennis legend Serena Williams. The move strengthens her commercial and professional backing as she looks to re-establish herself at the top of the sport.
Evolve’s presence in tennis
Although Osaka has departed, Evolve continues to manage a strong lineup of players. Its roster is led by current world No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka, alongside Nick Kyrgios, Eva Lys, Anna Kalinskaya and Iva Jovic.
Nishikori’s challenge
Japan’s Kei Nishikori was also spotted training in Melbourne on Saturday. Once ranked world No. 4 and a US Open finalist in 2014, Nishikori now sits at 238th in the ATP rankings. He will need to navigate the qualifying rounds to secure a place in the main draw of the Australian Open.
Osaka’s decision to return to IMG marks a pivotal moment in her career as she prepares for another run at the Australian Open. With her training underway and support from one of the sport’s most powerful agencies, she is positioning herself for a renewed push on the global stage.
Naomi Osaka in 2026
