ASTONISHING. Nadal wins his 10th Roland Garros

Rafael Nadal achieves the unthinkable!

The King of Clay wins his 10th Roland Garros after another incredible spotless performance after he defeated Wawrinka in the final 6-2 6-3 6-1.

There is no much to comment on a match like that because this contest ended after four games since the scoreline was 2-all in the opener. Then Rafa won 7 consecutive games to lead 6-2 3-0 with Wawrinka looking already dead. The Swiss had no hope to recover; his only chance to try to survive Rafa would have been to go for broke at every point (Ostapenko’s style), but Stan opted to “just” hit on Nadal’s backhand (that was also on fire).

Eventually, Rafa won the final in straight sets with all the fans standing on their feet celebrating “la decima” (his 10th Roland Garros).

THE EMOTIONS

Rafa was incredibly emotional soon after reaching this amazing milestone. The Spanish legend could barely hold his tears, and there was an extremely touching moment during the final ceremony when Uncle Toni handed a special trophy to his nephew celebrating “la decima”. Nadal paid the (right) tribute to him saying

“Thanks to my uncle, he’s been with me since I was three years old, we’ve been working a lot, and without him, I would not have these ten trophies with me.”

Then the Spanish legend talked about his emotions to say

“For me the nerves, the adrenaline I feel when I play on this court is impossible to compare to any other feeling.

This is the most important event in my career. It is difficult to compare this tournament to any other one. It will always be in my heart.”

This is also Rafa’s 15th slam and 73rd career title. The Mallorcan is still chasing Roger Federer that has won 18 majors, and both are not done.

Game on!
