Rafael Nadal has another amazing performance in Paris.

On Friday, the Spaniard had the daunting task to play rising star Dominic Thiem in the French Open final. The Austrian has recently defeated the Mallorcan in Rome in straight sets after playing a fantastic tennis, but things were quite different in Paris.

The match

Thiem’s big hopes lasted one game when the Austrian broke Rafa in the very first game. Then the Spanish legend won 4 consecutive games (4-1) before clinching the opener 6-3. In the second set, there was a similar narrative with Dominic conquering the first game and Rafa winning the following 3 (3-1). Things to extremely ugly for the Austrian starting from the 9th game of the second set (5-4 for Rafa) when Nadal won 7 consecutive games to win the match 6-3 6-4 6-0.

Nadal reached the final after dropping just 29 games in the entire tournament.

I am playing a great event. NADAL

Nadal reached the final after dropping just 29 games in the entire tournament and without losing a single set. The Mallorcan will face Stan Wawrinka in the final and he I still aware that the Swiss is a huge danger. In the post-match press conference, Rafa commented

“I have been playing a great event.  Stan is playing unbelievable, no? It will be a super hard final and I will need to play at my very best.”

The head to head

Nadal leads Wawrinka 15-3, 6-1 on clay. Rafa and Stan have played each other only once at the French Open in 2013 (quarters). Rafa won that match 6-2 6-3 6-1.

UNBEATABLE AGAIN?
