Polina Kudermetova has strengthened her team by bringing in former world number one Dinara Safina. Safina will not only provide consultation but will also accompany Kudermetova to tournaments, offering her experience and guidance throughout the season.
The coach’s statement
Ravshan Sultanov, Kudermetova’s current coach, welcomed Safina’s arrival with enthusiasm. “We have strengthened the team with Dinara Safina — she will be working with Polina. Her approach and vision of tennis are very close to ours. Dinara is a very easygoing, open, and extremely pleasant person to communicate with. As a coach, I feel very comfortable working in the same team with Dinara. She has tremendous experience as a player who reached the very top of the rankings. At the moment we have only just begun the preparation process for the 2026 season,” Ravshan Sultanov said.
Who is Dinara Safina
Safina is a former Russian tennis player who reached the world number one ranking in 2009. During her career, she won 12 WTA singles titles and reached three Grand Slam finals. Her experience at the highest level of the sport is seen as a valuable asset for Kudermetova as she prepares for the upcoming season.
Looking ahead to 2026
With Safina joining the team, Kudermetova’s camp is focused on building momentum for the 2026 season. The combination of Sultanov’s coaching and Safina’s insight as a former top player is expected to provide Kudermetova with a strong foundation to compete at the highest level.
