Juan Carlos Ferrero, in an interview with Marca, revisited the circumstances that led to his separation from Carlos Alcaraz. The former world number one explained that while the decision was difficult, it was made with respect and understanding. He did not rule out the possibility of a reunion in the future, noting that the way they parted leaves the door open.
The challenge of unexpected changes
Ferrero acknowledged the impact that such a change can have on a young player like Alcaraz. He said, “Changes like this are always complicated because they are unexpected. From a tennis perspective, I think Carlos is capable of overcoming this situation and arriving in Australia in great shape, trying to put this behind him.”
Confidence in Samuel’s role
The Spanish coach also expressed confidence in Samuel López, who has stepped in to guide Alcaraz. Ferrero explained, “Samuel knows him very well. Having spent so much time with me when we trained here at the academy, and especially this year, he has gained a lot of experience to be able to manage the team alone as a coach.”
With the Australian Open approaching, Ferrero believes Alcaraz has the resilience to adapt and continue performing at the highest level. His words underline both the challenges of transition and the opportunities for growth, as Alcaraz prepares to face the next stage of his career with determination and support.
