He congratulated Blockx and his team for their performance, adding, “Alex played amazing tennis all week, all year. Good luck for next season.”
Gratitude to team and supporters
Tien emphasized the importance of those around him in achieving success. “I want to thank God for blessing me with this opportunity. I really want to thank my team for always being there for me. I wouldn’t be standing here without you guys,” he said. He also praised the organizers, staff, umpires, ball kids, and fans, calling the event “one of the best tournaments of the year, if not the best.”
A personal thank you
The champion made a special mention of Micah, a close supporter in the stands. “It always makes my day seeing you over there throwing fist pumps at me. Thanks for always being there,” Tien said, highlighting the personal connections that motivate him during competition.
Partnership with Michael Chang
Tien also spoke about the influence of former Roland Garros champion Michael Chang, who has been part of his coaching team. “I’m very fortunate to have him on my side. He’s helped me tremendously ever since we started working together. He really does everything for me, so I’m just very lucky,” Tien explained.
When asked about his goals for next year, Tien admitted he was focused on enjoying the moment. “I don’t know, I haven’t thought that far ahead yet. I’m just super happy to be standing here holding this trophy. I’ll probably celebrate this win before I start thinking about next year,” he said.
