Holger Rune shares new training clips as he continues recovery from Achilles surgery.

Rune

Holger Rune suffered a torn Achilles tendon in October 2025 during his semifinal match at the Stockholm Open against Ugo Humbert. The injury required immediate surgery and forced him to miss the Australian Open and several early 2026 tournaments.

Rehabilitation Progress

Rune has been open about his recovery, sharing updates with fans. Seven weeks after surgery, he explained that he was transitioning from a protective boot to walking in shoes with elevation. He admitted the difficulty but embraced the challenge. “The end of phase 2 is getting closer, 7.5 weeks since surgery. The boot is slowly getting off and transition to walking in shoes with elevation has begun. It’s super difficult to walk, but I kind of get a kick out of the challenge,” Rune wrote on Instagram.

Training Videos

Rune has released multiple training clips showing his gradual return. These include gym sessions, controlled hitting drills, and more recent footage from Monte Carlo where he practiced forehands and backhands while balancing carefully to avoid strain. His videos highlight determination and discipline in rebuilding strength step by step.

Guidance from Experts

His fitness coach Marco Panichi, known for working with Novak Djokovic, has emphasized strict recovery protocols. Rune’s program includes light gym work, controlled hitting, and gradual increases in intensity to avoid setbacks.

Rune’s Mindset

Rune has paired his training footage with motivational reflections. He wrote: “You can’t stay in bed because you are scared of falling. You need to push within the limits of what you can do and improve and increase whenever allowed.” His words reflect resilience and inspire fans following his journey.

Although Rune’s full return to competition is months away, his consistent posting of training videos reassures supporters that he is progressing steadily. His openness has turned his recovery into a source of inspiration for the tennis community.
