
Victoria Mboko, the 19-year-old from Burlington, Ontario, has been named women’s player of the year by Tennis Canada. Her remarkable season saw her rise from No. 350 in the world rankings to No. 18, posting a 62-14 record across all competitions.
Mboko claimed her first WTA Tour title last summer in Montreal as a wild-card entry, defeating Sofia Kenin, Coco Gauff, and Elena Rybakina before upsetting former world No. 1 Naomi Osaka in the final. She capped her breakout year with another title in Hong Kong and was also recognized as women’s singles player of the year and women’s most improved player of the year.
Felix Auger-Aliassime’s career-high achievements
Felix Auger-Aliassime, 25, earned the men’s player of the year award after capturing three ATP Tour titles and reaching a career-high ranking of No. 5. His victories came at ATP 250 events in Brussels, Montpellier, and Adelaide.
He also reached the semifinals of the season-ending ATP Finals and became the first Canadian to record multiple 50-win seasons, finishing 2025 with a 50-24 record. Auger-Aliassime was additionally named men’s singles player of the year.
Recognition across Canadian tennis
Ottawa’s Gabriela Dabrowski was named women’s doubles player of the year, while Calgary’s Cleeve Harper took the men’s doubles honour. Montreal’s Gabriel Diallo earned the most improved men’s player award, and Thomas Venos of New Westminster, B.C., was recognized as wheelchair player of the year.

Tennis Canada CEO Gavin Ziv praised the achievements of the country’s top players, stating: “What a season this has been for Canadian tennis, one that will undoubtedly be remembered for many years to come.”

Ranked world no.18 (career-high), Victoria played her last match on the 10th of December when she beat world no.54 Cristina Bucsa 7-5 6-7(9) 6-2 in the final in Hong Kong to win her 2nd career title.
This season the Canadian owns a 62-14 record. Mboko clinched 7 titles in 2025 in the W35 Le Lamentin, the Bourg, the W75 Rome, the W35 Manchester, the W75 Porto, Montreal and Hong Kong. The Canadian got to the final in the Parma.
