On Sunday we have been treated with a tasty clash between Mladenovic and Muguruza in the Roland Garros 4th round. Eventually, it was the Frenchwoman to win the contest with the help of the local crowd, but according to many that support was a bit too much.
Muguruza clearly affected by a noisy partisan crowd today.
Was a major factor in her defeat.. waggles her finger at the crowd, gets booed 😮 pic.twitter.com/oyzwgGf3hr

What happened?
Kiki was extremely good in getting the help of the local fans during the match, but the crowd went a bit too far to continuously cheer on Muguruza’s errors. Kiki was also a bit annoying to shout “Forza” at almost every point. The Spaniard didn’t like the treatment, and she was extremely polemic when leaving the court and during the press conference after she broke down in tears.
Subsequently, Sam Sumik, Garbine’s coach, posted an extremely tough message on Twitter against the French crowd.
Congrats to k. Mladenovic.@GarbiMuguruza very proud of you.Never simple to be defending champion. To the French crowd, pathetic, no class!!
— Sam Sumyk (@SamSumyk) June 4, 2017
That was probably not the right to treat a defending champion, actually would haven’t been right with any player.
Muguruza just another victim of the French crowd’s rudeness. Worst crowd worldwide, hands down. #RG17

Finger wag from Muguruza towards the crowd as she departs as if to say ‘you’re out of order’
Mladenovic a local player that doesn’t shrink.

“The French crowd was pathetic today…no class” says Sam Sumyk, Muguruza’s coach (who happens to be French) in a text.

@Eurosport_UK Muguruza is crying because of the disgusting attitude of the French crowd, not because she didn’t defend her title 🙄

dk if the french crowd forgot that muguruza is actually a human and didn’t deserve to be booed for legit anything

Muguruza’s response to the crowd – which from where I was seemed partisan but fair – was totally human and understandable. 1/2

@WTA How can your writers pen a story on Muguruza’s loss today without mentioning her displeasure with the crowd.
— Ken Seon (@KenSeon7) June 5, 2017
Hoping Muguruza wins, if only to subdue this awful crowd. Patriotism’s fine but they’re just being downright rude. #RolandGarros2017
