Djokovic steady to the Roland Garros quarters

Novak Djokovic keeps on marching in Paris.

The world no.2 managed to overcome a slow start in the first set when he was one break down twice to win the contest 7-6 (5) 6-1 6-2. Things got extremely smooth for Nole after winning the opening set. In fact, the Serbian remained unchallenged in the second set when he grabbed a 4-0 lead and in the third when he started with a 5-2 “bonus.”

The atmosphere was special. DJOKOVIC

Nole remained “zen” in his comments to say

“The atmosphere tonight is very special because it was the last match of the day,” said Djokovic. “The crowd was really into it. They wanted to see good tennis, but also have fun and entertain themselves, so hopefully, they did.

It was really amazing couple of times both players received a standing ovation for the efforts, which was nice to see that the crowd appreciates and recognize the effort. And for us as tennis players, obviously playing in front of such crowd is always a great joy.”

Next vs. Thiem

Djokovic will play an in-form Dominic Thiem in the quarters. The head to head is 5-0 for Nole (21-1 in terms of sets). Djokovic has recently obliterated Thiem 6-1 6-0 in the Rome semifinal soon after the Austrian defeated Nadal in the quarters.
