Halep: “Fighting against my coach a turning point”

Simona Halep is growing stronger and strong in Paris.

The world no.4 has the huge opportunity of winning her first slam and become the new world no.1 if she wins the next four matches. The Romanian is playing a fantastic tennis even if her movements are a bit hampered by an injury to her ankle.

Fighting against Darren a turning point. HALEP

During a recent interview in Paris, Simona admitted that a tense exchange on court in Miami with her coach was a turning point. Darren Cahill, Simona’s mentor, was extremely rough with Simona during her quarterfinal against Jo Konta to say

“You have an opportunity to make a difference. You’ve been in this position many times before, and most times, you’re coming out second best. Right now you have an opportunity to change things.”

After that exchange, Simona still lost the match, and she and Darren parted ways for “few days.” Eventually, they decided to keep on partnering, and Simona won 17 of the following 19 matches.

On Friday, Simona admitted

“Definitely. This is the most important thing that he told me after Miami was to change the attitude.”

Nice to hear that.
