Simona Halep storms in the Roland Garros 4th round

Simona Halep wins another fantastic match in Paris.

The world no.4 had an incredible start against Kasaktina to win the opener 6-0. Then things became a bit more complicated in the second set when the Ukraine conquered a 5-3 lead to get (and squander) 4 set points. Eventually, Simona played her best tennis in the most important moments to win four consecutive games and the match with a 6-3 7-5 scoreline.

I rolled the ball very well. HALEP

In the post-match press conference, Simona commented

“It was a good match. I think I played really well the whole match, even if she has the 5-3 in the second set. I felt that I was pushing her back, and also I was rolling the ball pretty well. I think it was a very high standard of tennis today. Also, she played really well. I mean, she’s a very tough opponent when I play her always.

“It’s difficult even if I won the first set 6-0, I knew it’s gonna be tougher, the second one. I’m really happy with the way I played today.”

Next vs. Suarez Navarro

Simona will play Carla Suarez Navarro in the 4th round. The head to head is 6-5 for the Romanian, but Carla leads 4-0 on clay. Halep remains the favorite to reach the quarters.
