While the professional tennis season has concluded, December will not be short of action. Several top stars are set to feature in exhibition events across the globe, offering fans a chance to see their favorites back on court and giving players valuable match practice before the new year. Carlos Alcaraz, Iga Swiatek, Elena Rybakina, Jack Draper, Naomi Osaka and Aryna Sabalenka are among those scheduled to play.
Northern Palmyra Trophies Exhibition
The first event is the Northern Palmyra Trophies Exhibition in Russia on November 29-30. Despite controversy surrounding its sponsorship, Daniil Medvedev, Karen Khachanov, Veronika Kudermetova, Yulia Putintseva, Alexander Bublik, Anastasia Potapova and Diana Shnaider are confirmed participants. Tallon Griekspoor and Mikhail Youzhny are also advertised.
UTS Grand Final
On December 5-6, the UTS Grand Final will take place with Alex de Minaur, Jack Draper, Andrey Rublev, Tomas Machac, Adrian Mannarino, Casper Ruud, Francisco Cerúndolo and David Goffin. Draper returns after ending his season early due to injury. The format is unique, with matches played in four quarters of eight minutes.
Racquet at the Rock and Miami Tennis Invitational
December 7 brings Racquet at the Rock in New Jersey, featuring Carlos Alcaraz, Frances Tiafoe, Amanda Anisimova and Jessica Pegula. The following day, Alcaraz, Pegula, Anisimova and Joao Fonseca head to Miami for singles and mixed doubles at loanDepot Park.
The Garden Cup
On December 8, Madison Square Garden hosts Aryna Sabalenka, Naomi Osaka, Nick Kyrgios and Tommy Paul in The Garden Cup. The event benefits the International Tennis Hall of Fame and includes singles and mixed doubles.
Tennis Premier League India
From December 9-14, India will host the Tennis Premier League. Luciano Darderi, Arthur Rinderknech, Corentin Moutet, Alexandre Muller and Damir Džumhur are among the players competing in a 25-point format designed to appeal to local audiences.
World Tennis League
Bengaluru will stage the World Tennis League from December 17-20. Daniil Medvedev, Nick Kyrgios, Gaël Monfils, Paula Badosa, Elina Svitolina and others will compete in a team-based format with franchises Falcons, Hawks, Kites and Eagles.
Macau Tennis Masters
On December 27-28, Macau hosts Li Na and Conchita Martinez as captains, leading Mirra Andreeva, Alexandra Eala, Shang Juncheng, Jack Draper and Jakub Mensik in singles, doubles and mixed doubles.
Battle of the Sexes
December 28 will see Aryna Sabalenka face Nick Kyrgios in the UAE in a modern version of the iconic Battle of the Sexes. “I have a lot of respect for Nick and his talent, but make no mistake, I’m ready to bring my A-game,” said Sabalenka. She added, “I’m proud to represent women’s tennis and to be part of this modern take of the iconic ‘Battle of the Sexes’ match.”
Continental Cup Shenzhen
From December 26-28, Shenzhen will host the Continental Cup, pitting Europe against the Rest of the World. Iga Swiatek, Elena Rybakina, Belinda Bencic, Andrey Rublev and Zhang Zhizhen headline the event, which serves as preparation for the United Cup and Brisbane tournaments.
