Alexandra Eala capped off a remarkable 2025 season that saw her rise to world No. 50. The Filipina star made headlines at the Miami Open, where she reached the semifinal as a wildcard after defeating multiple Grand Slam champions. Her season officially ended on October 30th with a round-of-16 loss to Victoria Mboko in Hong Kong, but her performances throughout the year marked her as one of the rising talents in women’s tennis.

Training with Rafael Nadal in Spain

Even after her season concluded, Eala continued to stay connected to tennis. She traveled to Spain, where she had the opportunity to hit with Rafael Nadal on the first anniversary of his retirement. The session highlighted her growing presence in the sport and her ties to one of the greatest champions in tennis history.

Switching to vacation mode

Following her training in Spain, Eala decided to take a break from tennis activities. She shared several photos from the beach, embracing time away from the court and enjoying life by the sea. The pause reflects her balanced approach to recovery and preparation for the challenges ahead.

Looking ahead to 2026

At just 20 years old, Eala is already focused on building toward greater achievements in the coming season. Speaking to the Olympics website in late October, she said: “I think in regard to coming this far and everything, I take so much pride in this, the effect that I’ve noticed that I’ve had on inspiring a spark of tennis in my country, in Southeast Asia and hopefully wherever else it has. But that’s not to say that (2026 is) going to be my peak. Because this is the best I can be now, but maybe I can be even better in the future. So maybe 2026, I’ll be the best Alex I can be then, but maybe 2027 will be even better. You never know, I don’t know – but yes.”

A rising star with global impact

Eala’s words reflect her pride in inspiring tennis growth in the Philippines and Southeast Asia. With her breakout season behind her, she enters 2026 with confidence, determination, and the belief that her best years are still ahead.
