Holger Rune suffered a serious Achilles injury during his semifinal match against Ugo Humbert at the Stockholm Open in October 2025. The Danish star underwent surgery in Copenhagen shortly after the incident. Rune reassured fans about the procedure, saying on Instagram: “Hi, everyone. Surgery went really well.”
Training in Monaco
Despite the severity of the injury, Rune has already resumed light training sessions in Monaco. A video shared on social media shows him balancing and practicing movements on one leg, a sign of his determination to return to the court as soon as possible.
Rune’s reflections on the injury
Rune admitted the setback was difficult to accept, describing it as a turning point in his career. “I heard something pop in my tendon,” he said after collapsing during the Stockholm match. Later, he reflected: “It was not supposed to happen because all of my tests showed I was perfectly healthy. But I believe it happened for a reason and it will teach me a lesson after I took my talent for granted.”
