Total audience measurement

The audience data, compiled by Studio Frasi, reflect the new “total audience” system introduced by Auditel at the end of 2024. This method includes views from computers, smartphones, and tablets, aligning with modern consumption habits. On big screens alone, Sinner-Alcaraz reached 6,789,000 viewers compared to 6,686,000 for the 2023 final. With the total audience counted, the number rose to 7,008,000.

Tennis close to football

The exceptional audience for Sinner’s match is highlighted by comparison with football. On the same Sunday evening, Italy’s national team under Gennaro Gattuso faced Norway on Raiuno, drawing 7.5 million viewers in total audience. Despite football’s traditional dominance, tennis came close in numbers and even achieved a higher share, 36.5% compared to 34%. The football match benefited from prime-time scheduling and Raiuno’s flagship platform, while the tennis final aired earlier in the evening.

A historic milestone

The Sinner-Alcaraz final confirms the growing popularity of tennis in Italy and sets a new benchmark for the sport’s visibility on television. With record-breaking figures across both public and pay TV, the event underscores how tennis is now competing head-to-head with football in capturing the national audience.
