Carlos Alcaraz closed out the year by securing the year-end World No.1 ranking, a milestone he had set as his ultimate target. After a season filled with challenges and comebacks, the Spanish star expressed his pride in reaching the top once again. “It means the world to me to be honest. The year end No.1 is always a goal. To be honest, at the beginning of the year I saw the No.1 really far away. Jannik being there winning almost every tournament he plays. From the middle of the season til now I put a goal for No.1 because I thought it was there. I had a chance to play great tennis in a lot of tournaments in a row to put myself closer to Jannik for the No.1. In the last 3 or 4 tournaments of the year fighting toe to toe with Jannik for this spot and finally I got it. For me, it means everything. The work that we put in every day during the whole season. Ups and downs, comebacks.. I’m really proud about my team and myself,” said Alcaraz.

The rivalry with Jannik Sinner

Throughout the season, Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner battled for supremacy at the top of the rankings. Sinner’s consistency and victories in multiple tournaments made the challenge formidable, but Alcaraz’s determination and strong performances in the latter half of the year allowed him to close the gap. Their rivalry added intensity to the ATP calendar and showcased the new generation’s dominance in men’s tennis.

Pride in his team and preparation

Alcaraz emphasized the importance of his team in achieving this success, highlighting the daily effort and preparation that went into maintaining his level. He acknowledged the ups and downs of the season, but credited the collective work for helping him stay focused and resilient. His words underline the collaborative nature of modern tennis, where the player’s success is deeply tied to the support system around him.
