Carlos Alcaraz reclaimed the year-end World No.1 ranking with his victory over Lorenzo Musetti at the ATP Finals. The Spanish star confirmed his season-long goal with a strong performance that also booked his place in the semi-finals. “Well it’s a great achievement. It was the goal to end the year as No.1 and after getting the win in this match and knowing that I achieve my goal of the year, it means a lot, I think I’ve been playing great tennis and excited to keep it going and playing a semi-final here in the ATP Finals,” said Alcaraz.

His best indoor season

Reflecting on his progress, Alcaraz admitted that this campaign has been his most successful indoors. “I forgot that I won Rotterdam so, I forgot that, so I would say it’s my best season indoor so far. It’s coming at the end of the season approaching the indoor swing of the season, for me it’s always great having time at home preparing as good as I can this tournament, but it doesn’t mean I’m going to play well or not so I’m just really happy that I came here with confidence knowing that I’m playing great tennis. I had good preparation for this tournament but, it’s always to get to know yourself what you need on and off the court and approaching this time of the year, I think I’ve done pretty well,”

he explained.
