Lorenzo Musetti delivered one of the most stirring performances of his career at the ATP Finals in Turin, overcoming Alex de Minaur in a match that tested both his physical limits and mental resilience. The Italian, who entered the tournament as an alternate, seized the moment in front of a passionate home crowd.

When asked if this was one of the most euphoric moments he had experienced on a tennis court, Musetti didn’t hesitate. “Honestly yes. I think today at a certain point of the match I was really struggling physically. Alex raised the level and intensity. I was struggling to find solutions. But then with a big heart, with big passion for this game… I don’t know from where… I started to feel better and to play better. The support of the crowd is literally amazing. I have to thank them all,” he said.

A Warrior’s Mindset

Musetti’s journey to Turin was anything but straightforward. Called up at the last minute, he had little time to prepare for the high-stakes environment of the ATP Finals. Yet his performance against de Minaur showed a player ready to embrace the challenge.

“Of a warrior. I think I improved a lot on the mental side. Of course I’m pushing myself to the limit. I’m playing every match with the top players. I knew that. The next one coming is against Carlos… So I know how difficult it is… Especially in these conditions. I’ll try to enjoy and fight like I’ve done today,”
