Nick Kyrgios has finally decided to hire a coach to help him to achieve better results. The Australian has recently hired the former world no.4 Sebastien Grosjean, and Nick is not hiding the fact that he is already satisfied with the new partnership.
Kyrgios won an excellent opener at the Roland Garros after he defeated Philipp Kohlschreiber in straight sets. After the match, he opened up about his coaching choices.
I knew I needed a coach. KYRGIOS
Nick commented,
“I was kind of just looking for the right person to guide me and keep me on track. I definitely knew that to get to maybe top five and to really contend at slams; I probably needed someone in my corner that could help me at times.
“That definitely came from the people around me. They were always telling me and always reminding me that I had potential and I definitely needed someone to help me.
I just wasn’t ready to have anyone. I was kind of just going with the flow and just taking every day one step at a time, just enjoying it and just trying to play.I got to 13 in the world without a coach, which is not too bad, I don’t think. It’s time now to knuckle down, I guess. He’s been there and done that.”
Kyrgios will play Kevin Anderson in the 2nd round in Paris. Let’s see if he can keep the same focus and level of tennis as he showed in the first round.
