Following their stunning comeback victory over Coello and Tapia in the FIP World Cup Pairs final, Ale Galan and Fede Chingotto talked about their feelings and tactical observations, showing how their faith, flexibility, and collaboration led them to the top.
A moment of unadulterated happiness following the last point
Ale Galan and Fede Chingotto sat surrounded by microphones at the post-match press conference, clearly touched by their accomplishment. Chingotto was candid when asked how they felt after winning the last point. “To be honest, I’m really happy because, in my opinion, the important thing is the work we’re doing as a team, quietly, day by day, practicing to try to be better and a better partner for each other, even outside of this competition. And receiving this prize is unquestionably the most significant thing,” he stated.
In describing the emotional release of the last minute, Galan shared the sentiment. We are extremely thrilled and grateful. My mind was racing with the final issue, and I hoped they would agree, but I tried to ignore it by concentrating on the task we had already completed and simply kept moving forward. It was a heartfelt sigh and a great joy when it was over,” he continued.
Mental toughness and tactical modifications
Galan reflected on the game and described how they were able to overturn the world number one duo. He claimed that “we believed we could win the match from the moment we stepped on the court.” He noted that Coello and Tapia’s tempo was different from any other pair they had encountered, and he acknowledged the strength of their pressure. “It’s really difficult until you get used to that pace,” Galan said.
The pivotal moment occurred when Chingotto and Galan started to change their strategy in the second set. Galan underlined, “Our motto is ‘until the end’: always play one more ball, keep believing, and look for our chances.” He attributed their resurgence to a tactical shift. He said, “We made a change because they were pressuring us and we were just surviving in the second set, and that’s why we had our break.”
A collaboration based on growth and trust
Both players emphasized how strong their partnership is during the press conference. Their success was largely attributed to their capacity to help one another and grow as a team. In addition to being a victory over a strong foe, the victory in Kuwait was the result of months of planning, common objectives, and faith.
Chingotto and Galan’s triumph has rekindled the competition for the top rank in the padel world, demonstrating that even the most powerful forces can be subdued by perseverance and teamwork. Although their road is far from over, this victory represents a turning point in their ascent.
