The emphasis shifted to honing a crucial padel shot, the vibora, during a visit to Derby’s recently opened S3 Sports Society club. Vejay, a regular player at the facility, had been struggling with excessive rebound and a lack of depth in his execution. To find out what was wrong, he requested a technical review.

Finding the Issue

It was evident from watching Vejay’s vibora that the shot lacked penetration and control. The opponents had time to reset because the ball was bouncing too high off the glass. Timing, body placement, and grip tension all contributed to the problem. His contact point was frequently too far behind his body, and his wrist was excessively stiff.

Making the Modifications

A brief study was followed by the introduction of a few specific changes. Vejay relaxed his grip a little, changed his posture to remain more side-on, and concentrated on hitting the ball earlier with a more downward trajectory. He was able to keep the ball lower after the bounce and produce better slicing thanks to these improvements.

After the session, Vejay remarked, “I didn’t think such small changes could make such a big difference.”

Court Results

The change happened instantly. With fewer rebounds, Vejay’s vibora started to move farther into the floor. The shot became harder for opponents to recover and more reliable. With every rally, his confidence increased, and his skill and match play both showed growth.

He continued, “I feel like I can use the vibora to control points now, not just defend.”

The Significance of the Vibora

The vibora is a strategic weapon in padel. It keeps opponents pinned while preserving net control by applying pressure without going overboard. A well-played vibora can create space, force mistakes, and set up successful volleys. Spin, timing, and placement are crucial, and Vejay started to master them through deliberate tweaks.

The S3 Sports Society workshop demonstrated how a player’s game can be improved with technical awareness and small adjustments, transforming a poor shot into a dependable asset.
