As the 2025 tennis season nears its conclusion, the ATP Finals in Turin are poised to deliver a thrilling finale. With seven of the eight spots already secured, the final place remains contested between Felix Auger-Aliassime and Lorenzo Musetti. Musetti must win the title in Athens to surpass Auger-Aliassime in the Race standings; otherwise, he will serve as the first alternate.

Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner lead the field, having dominated the season and qualified as the top two seeds. Sinner returns as the reigning champion, while Alcaraz continues to build on his Grand Slam success. Alexander Zverev, a two-time winner of the event, enters as the third seed, followed by Novak Djokovic, who has qualified for the Finals for a record 16th time. Djokovic’s participation had been uncertain after his withdrawal in 2024, but he is expected to compete in Turin.

Ben Shelton makes his debut at the year-end championships, having finished fifth in the Race. Taylor Fritz, runner-up in 2024, returns for his second consecutive appearance. Alex de Minaur rounds out the confirmed seven, with the final spot pending.

Ranking Points Breakdown

The ATP Finals use a round-robin format that offers a unique distribution of ranking points. Each group-stage win earns a player 200 points. A perfect 3-0 record in the round-robin yields 600 points. Semi-final winners receive 400 points, and the champion earns an additional 500 points for the final victory.

A player who wins all five matches — three in the group, one semi-final, and the final — will collect 1,500 points. This was achieved by Jannik Sinner in 2024, who went undefeated throughout the event. Players who fail to win a match receive no ranking points.

“It’s a format that rewards consistency and resilience,” said ATP Chairman Andrea Gaudenzi in a previous interview.

Prize Money Structure

The ATP Finals offer the largest official prize purse in tennis history. An unbeaten champion stands to earn $5,071,000. All players who complete their three round-robin matches receive a participation fee of $331,000.

Each round-robin win adds $396,500 to a player’s earnings. A player with three wins would accumulate $1,520,500 before the knockout rounds. Semi-final winners collect $1,183,500, and the champion earns an additional $2,367,000.

This payout surpasses the $5,000,000 awarded to Carlos Alcaraz and Aryna Sabalenka for their US Open victories earlier in the year.

“It’s a reflection of the event’s prestige and the level of competition,” said Gaudenzi.

Tournament Schedule

The ATP Finals begin on Sunday, November 9 and conclude on Sunday, November 16. The round-robin matches will run from November 9 to 14, with players competing in two groups on alternating days. Semi-finals are scheduled for November 15, followed by the final on November 16.

The official draw will take place on Thursday, November 6, setting the stage for one of the most anticipated events in the tennis calendar.
