The Nitto ATP Finals 2025 will honor two of the sport’s greatest icons by naming the singles groups after Jimmy Connors and Bjorn Borg. This decision adds a layer of historical prestige to the tournament, which will take place in Turin from November 9 to 16. The draw, scheduled for November 6, will officially place the qualified players into the two groups: Connors and Borg.

Alcaraz and Sinner take center stage

Carlos Alcaraz, the first player to qualify for the Finals this year, will lead the Connors group. The Spanish star has had a consistent season and enters the tournament aiming for his first ATP Finals title. On the other side, Jannik Sinner, reigning champion and current world number one, will command the Borg group. His victory at Wimbledon and dominance throughout the year have solidified his status as the man to beat.

“Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner have earned their places at the top through incredible consistency and resilience,” said Lorenzo Ercoli.

A tribute to tennis heritage

Naming the groups after Connors and Borg is a nod to the golden era of tennis. Jimmy Connors, known for his fierce competitiveness and longevity, and Bjorn Borg, celebrated for his icy composure and dominance on clay and grass, represent contrasting but equally iconic styles. Their legacy continues to inspire the new generation of players competing in Turin.

The road to Turin intensifies

With five spots still to be filled, the race to qualify is heating up. Players like Ben Shelton, Taylor Fritz, and Alexander Zverev are among the contenders battling for a place in the prestigious year-end event. The ATP Finals remain the ultimate stage for the season’s top eight singles players, and the group names add a symbolic weight to the competition.
