Jannik Sinner shared his thoughts on the playing conditions at the Paris Masters, offering a measured perspective on the court speed and movement challenges. Speaking ahead of his first match, the Italian acknowledged the complexity of adapting to the surface at the Accor Arena.

“For me it isn’t slow or fast. Moving around these courts is not easy, sometimes it’s a bit slippery, sometimes less,” Sinner said, noting that the variability in grip makes it a difficult venue for him historically.

Building confidence through match play

Sinner emphasized that the key to performing well in Paris lies in gaining confidence through time on court. While he has trained in the venue for a few sessions, he admitted that his impressions are still forming.

“It is an area where I have always found difficult to play. But more than anything you need to gain as much confidence as possible while playing on these courts so we’ll see,” he explained.

Limited feedback before match time

Having practiced for just two hours across two days, Sinner was cautious in drawing conclusions about the conditions. He suggested that a clearer assessment would come only after experiencing match play.

“Yesterday I played for half an hour, today one and a half so my feedback is quite limited, so I can tell you more after the first match,” he added.

As one of the top seeds in the tournament, Sinner enters Paris with high expectations but also a realistic approach to the challenges posed by the indoor hard court. His first-round performance will likely offer deeper insight into how he adapts to the conditions this year.
