Naomi Osaka’s 2025 campaign came to an abrupt halt following a leg injury sustained during the Japan Open. After a promising start to the year, the setback forced her to withdraw from all remaining tournaments, closing a season that had shown signs of resurgence.

Coaching changes after Mouratoglou

Earlier in the year, Osaka parted ways with Patrick Mouratoglou and brought in Tomasz Wiktorowski as her new head coach. Strength and conditioning coach Guillaume Brunoir, who had joined her team in late 2024, remained part of her setup through the transition. His presence coincided with Osaka’s improved physical form and competitive edge.

Brunoir confirms departure

Guillaume Brunoir announced their split via Instagram, writing: “Some chapters are meant to leave a mark. From Los Angeles to Osaka, through every court, every session, every challenge. Quiet focus, fleeting moments, unseen efforts, and the laughter we shared along the way.” He added: “Proud of the work, the growth, and the bond built during these months. Thankful for the path we shared. Ready for the next move.”

Osaka responded: “Thanks for everything 🙏🏾 wishing you the best on what’s to come!” Brunoir replied: “Always grateful 🙏🏽.”

Looking ahead to 2026

With her season officially closed, Osaka now turns her focus to recovery and preparation for 2026. The four-time Grand Slam champion has shown resilience in the past, and her fans remain hopeful for another comeback. Her team may undergo further changes as she seeks the right formula to return to peak form.
