World No. 1 Carlos Alcaraz expressed his approval of the court conditions at the 2025 Rolex Paris Masters during his pre-tournament press conference. The tournament organizers have opted for a slower surface this year, a decision that aligns with Alcaraz’s preferences and playing style.

“You know, the speed of the court, yeah, it’s much slower than last year, but I think it is a really good speed that we can see tennis, not only serve or it’s not only serve plus one. So you can see rallies, you can see points, you can see tennis. So I think it’s great,” Alcaraz said.

A surface that suits his game

Known for his all-court versatility and ability to construct points, Alcaraz has often voiced his preference for slower courts that allow for longer rallies and more tactical exchanges. He reiterated that sentiment in Paris, emphasizing how the new conditions enhance the quality of play.

“Obviously I’ve said many times that I like, you know, slower courts, not that fast,” he added.

Eyes on the title and rankings

Alcaraz enters the tournament as the top seed and a favorite to win, especially with the surface playing to his strengths. With Jannik Sinner close behind in the rankings, every match in Paris could have implications for the year-end No. 1 spot.

As the tournament unfolds, Alcaraz’s comfort on the slower court may prove decisive in his quest to finish the season at the top.
