Francesca is back to win her 5th career title since the incredible one at the Roland Garros in 2010.
Schiavone was the clear favourite to win this tournament. Seeded no2, Francesca won all matches in straight sets without facing any other seeded player.
The final wasn’t any different with the Italian wrapping up the match in 1h 43m.
Francesca Schiavone commented “In this tournament, in the most important moments, I was there. It has been a long time since I’ve felt that. It’s a great feeling and I want to keep going this way. I’m happy again. I’m feeling the sensation of fighting and feeling the pain, and enjoying my game again.”
Alizé Cornet said “Right now I’m disappointed, but Francesca was playing well the whole week, not even losing a set. And my tennis is improving and coming back again. It was only positives for me this week, and now I hope I can recover and have a good Roland Garros.”
So the Italian Lioness is back… can she produce another wonder also at this French Open?
