Elina Svitolina is getting better and better.

The Ukraine wins her 8th career title (the 4th of her fantastic 2017) after defeating Simona Halep in the final. Elina looked doomed after she was 1 set and 1 break down  (4-6 0-1), but Svitolina managed to hold tough and eventually she was lucky when Simona rolled her ankle at the end of the second set. Eventually, the Ukraine brought the match to the decider and Simona was clearly hampered in her movements. Elina won the final 4-6 7-5 6-1.

After the match, an elated Svitolina commented

“Every day I’m just trying to work on my mental part, my physical, my tennis. Everything just came together, and I’m very happy that it’s happened in such a big tournament.”

After this week, Elina will be the new world no.1 in the year to date rankings. This is becoming interesting.
