Murray upset with LTA over Sharapova’s wildcard

Maria Sharapova is at the center of a huge controversy since she is receiving plenty of wild cards following her comeback after a 15 months’ ban for doping.

Genie Bouchard has probably been the loudest player to critic the Russian calling for a ban for life, but also Andy Murray hasn’t been soft with Maria.

The Briton is now extremely upset with the LTA after they conceded a wild card to Sharapova for the upcoming tournament in Birmingham (on grass) that is considered as a sort of Wimbledon warm-up.

We need clarity. MURRAY

Andy commented

“This isn’t just about Maria; this is about the sport of tennis in general. This is not the first time a player coming back from a ban has been given a wild card into tournaments. It’s because of her name, obviously, that there is so much interest in it. But there’s no rule stopping it so what can you do?

Should the governing bodies come together after the amount of controversy there’s been, come together and discuss this and see whether going forward there should be a different way of tackling it?

It’s definitely something that should be talked about and should be discussed because we are standing here talking about it now and we’ve been talking about it for well over a year.

NOT HAPPY WITH MARIA?
