IT’S OFFICIAL. Andy Murray to play the Rafa Nadal Open in Mallorca

Andy will play in Mallorca next month. Story

Andy Murray is officially in the entry list of the Rafa Nadal Open. The Challenger will take place in Mallorca at the Rafa Nadal Academy in the 2nd week of the US Open.

The news comes hardly as a surprise as the former world no.1 already stated that he had the intention of playing at a “lower lever” to get more matches under his belt. The rumors were already around about his participation to the Rafa Nadal Open, and now it has been confirmed.

Andy knows very well the environment in Mallorca as he used to train every now and then with Rafa in his academy. Therefore this was almost a natural decision.

Murray has tried to play singles in a couple of competitions after his hip injury, but he hasn’t managed to win a set so far. He was defeated in the 1st round in Cincinnati by Richard Gasquet 6-4 6-4. Then he capitulated in Winton-Salem at the hands of Tennys Sandgren 7-6 (8) 7-5. However, the Scot confirmed that he was happy after his last performance.
