Zverev wins the title in Munich

Sascha Zverev made it!

The German wins his first title on home soil after defeating Guido Pella in the Munich final. This is Sascha’s three career title and the second of the season after Montpellier.

In the final, after a slow start (2-4), the German had a decisive stint to conquer seven consecutive games and lead the contest 6-4 3-0. At that point, it was just about administrating the lead, and Sascha won the match 6-4 6-3.

Happy to win in Germany

Soon after the match, Sascha commented “I lost the final in Halle last year (to Mayer), which was very painful. I really wanted to win a tournament in Germany, which I’ve done now and I’m very happy about it. Obviously my first title on clay as well. It’s a great feeling right now.”

The German will now head to Madrid where he will face Verdasco in the first round.
