2012 Roland Garros Men’s Singles Draw

Let’s see the key points of the Men’s draw.

DJOKOVIC

Besides the fact that the Serb did not want to fall in the same half as Roger, he had a very good draw. He will play Starace in the 1st round, then probably Hewitt, then Verdasco, then Simon/Tsonga/Wawrinka/Troicki.

So the only bad news is that if he wants to win this slam he may have to defeat both Roger and Rafa…Not nice.

FEDERER
Not a good one. Roger will face the always dangerous Nalbandian in the 2nd round. The Swiss has a 11-8 record with him and 3-1 on clay. The good thing for Roger is that the only time the Argentine defeated him on clay was in 2002 in Montecarlo (it was a 6-2 6-1 trash).

Then Roger should play Roddick that is definately not fit (Roger would look forward to avenge his defeat in Miami).

Then he would play Feliciano Lopez. Roger has a 10-0 record, but he always struggles a bit with the Spaniard. The last time they played each other on clay was at last year’s Roland Garros with the Swiss winning a comfortable 6-3, 6-4, 7-6(3)

NADAL

The super King of Clay is the mega favourite for the title. He may have a couple of problems playing Mayer in the 3rd round. Rafa struggles  with the German. He has a 1-1 record. He played him just last week in Rome to win 6-1 7-5.

Then the Spaniard should face Raonic (if Milos can beat an inspired Monaco). The Canadian is just about there… knowing he can beat anybody and he improved a lot on the clay. This can be dangerous for Rafa that played with him twice in Japan (in 2011 and 2010 always in the second round) to have not-so-clean victories… and Milos now is so much better.

In the quartes…. well we do not see anybody who could really beat him, he may play either Tipsarevic or Almagro.

Then in the semifinal he may play Ferrer (Rafa does not really enjoy him), Murray or even worst Isner (last year in Rafa was about to lose to him in the first round!)

POSSIBLE QUARTERS
Djokovic – Tsonga

Federer – Berdych (ask to Del Potro!)
Ferrer – Murray (ask to Isner!)
Nadal – Tipsarevic

Enjoy the Ride
