Carlos Alcaraz’s signed 2023 Wimbledon-winning racquet is expected to fetch up to $200,000 at auction, potentially surpassing Rafael Nadal’s record.
A Piece of Tennis History Hits the Auction Block
Carlos Alcaraz’s match-used Babolat racquet from his 2023 Wimbledon triumph over Novak Djokovic is currently up for auction at Prestige Memorabilia. The racquet, signed by the Spanish star, was used during the five-set final that many consider one of the most iconic matches of the decade. “This is by far the most significant item to ever surface from Alcaraz’s young but already historic career, used in a match that many consider to be a generational turning point,” reads the official lot description.
Record-Breaking Potential
With bidding already surpassing $21,000 and more than a week remaining until the October 19 deadline, experts predict the racquet could sell for around $200,000. If achieved, this would eclipse the current record of $157,000 set by Rafael Nadal’s 2017 French Open-winning racquet.
The item has been photomatched to ten separate days, including the Wimbledon final and various practice sessions, adding to its authenticity and appeal.
Alcaraz’s Defining Wimbledon Moment
The 2023 Wimbledon final marked a turning point in men’s tennis. At just 20 years old, Alcaraz defeated four-time defending champion Novak Djokovic in a thrilling five-set battle: 1–6, 7–6(6), 6–1, 3–6, 6–4. The victory ended Djokovic’s 34-match winning streak at Wimbledon and secured Alcaraz’s second Grand Slam title.
His performance not only solidified his place among the sport’s elite but also symbolized a generational shift, with Alcaraz emerging as the face of the future.
Prestige Memorabilia’s Growing Influence
Prestige Memorabilia has become a leading platform for tennis collectibles, previously handling the sale of Nadal’s record-setting racquet. Their focus on photomatched, match-used items has attracted serious collectors and fans alike. The Alcaraz racquet, given its historical significance and pristine documentation, is expected to draw global interest.
