After receiving consent from Peterborough City Council, four new padel courts are scheduled to debut at Peterborough One Retail Park. Players of all skill levels will have year-round access to the covered courts with floodlights. The building will be constructed at the Blue Diamond Garden Center parking lot across from Aldi, off Eye Road.

Technology-Powered Lighting and Access

Players will be able to enter the courts using a code they will receive after making an online reservation thanks to a wi-fi-controlled keypad gate system. The low-energy LED floodlights will be controlled by the same system and will turn on automatically during designated play times. The location will be open everyday from 7:00 to 23:00 by the end of 2025, according to the project’s sponsor, Pulse Padel.

“The courts will have a positive impact on the community and provide year-round access to an enjoyable and healthful activity.” — Pulse Padel, James Jones

Community Engagement, Events, and Coaching

Adult and kid group coaching, one-on-one sessions, social club meetings, leagues, tournaments, and special events will all be held within the venue. Building on the rising popularity of padel in the UK, the goal is to establish a thriving padel community in Peterborough.

Local Assistance and Growth

There was only one access-related objection and twelve positive representations, indicating significant local support for the planning application. After a previous construction near Stanground Academy, this is the city’s second padel site to be permitted.
