Padel courts will soon be available in Liverpool thanks to a new initiative led by former manager Jürgen Klopp. Padel FC, which Klopp and his son Marc created, is working on the project. The main goal of their plans is to make Wavertree Sports Park a historic venue for one of the fastest-growing sports in Europe.

The planned facility seeks to be inclusive and sustainable.

Six indoor courts and three semi-outdoor courts will be part of the 31,000 square foot complex that Padel FC has proposed through Pegasus Group. EV charging stations, air source heating, and solar panels are all included in the design. It offers a complete venue for players and guests, with additional amenities like a cafe, lounge areas, retail space, and changing rooms.

Working together with local leaders makes the project stronger.

In collaboration with local businessman Carl Spellman and retired football player Bradley Orr, the Liverpool center is being created. It is the first time Padel FC has expanded outside of Berlin and demonstrates Klopp’s dedication to sport with a communal focus. In the two consultation processes that the proposal has previously undertaken, 98% of respondents have expressed support.

All players will have year-round access to the center.

If authorized, the facility will be open seven days a week and provide players of all ages and abilities with access in all weather conditions. It wants to support Liverpool’s expanding sports infrastructure by developing into a center for both competitive and recreational padel.

Pegasus Group emphasizes the urban impact of the project.

“We have really enjoyed working with Padel FC to bring one of Europe’s fastest-growing sports to Liverpool,” said Darren Muir, director at Pegasus Group. “From advising on the tender process, to leading the pre-application engagement and preparation of the planning submission, it has been rewarding to help shape a scheme that makes efficient use of underutilised land while delivering genuine social, economic and environmental benefits for the city.”
