Carlos Alcaraz has officially withdrawn from the Shanghai Masters following an ankle injury sustained during his opening match at the Tokyo ATP 500. The Spaniard, who went on to win the title in Japan, rolled his left ankle early in the tournament and required on-court treatment before continuing. Despite lifting the trophy, the physical toll prompted a reassessment of his schedule.

“After discussing it with my team, we believe the best decision is to rest and recover,” Alcaraz announced, confirming his absence from Shanghai.
