Nadal makes history

Rafael Nadal makes history in Monte Carlo after being the first player to win the same ATP title 10 times. The King of Clay was no match in the final against his compatriot Albert Ramos-Vinolas. Rafa broke his opponent four times without conceding a single break point. Eventually, Rafa won 6-1 6-3.

I feel lucky. NADAL

During the post-match interview, Rafa commented

“It really is unbelievable. To win ten times at such an important event like Monte-Carlo is something difficult to describe my feelings. Every year has been a different feeling. At the same time, it is always a unique moment, every time; I have this trophy with me. There is a little bit of luck, the lot of things coming together to win this 10th title in an event like Monte-Carlo.

I feel lucky to keep playing tennis, being healthy all those years, in order to compete in one of the most beautiful events of the year, without a doubt. I am very happy to win another one. For me, it is a very important day in my career.”

This is Nadal’s 70th titles, the 50th on clay. This makes Rafa the most successful player on clay in tennis history. The second one is Vilas with 49 titles. And this is not the end of it…

THE KING OF CLAY IS STILL VERY MUCH IN CHARGE
