Sharapova to play haters in comeback tournament

Even if Maria Sharapova was looking forward to being back to play a competitive tournament after 15 months from being banned, the upcoming week could be one of the toughest of her career.

Maria received a controversial wildcard in Stuttgart to directly access the main draw. This decision has been heavily criticized by Agnieszka Radwanska (article) and Angelique Kerber (article). Last year, the Russian was also attacked by Dominika Cibulkova that said that the Russian is “a totally unlikeable person, cocky and cold” (article).

Interesting enough, in her first comeback tournament, Maria will face Roberta Vinci, then she has on her path, Radwanska, Cibulkova, and Kerber. So, there is a lot of space for revenge.

These are the possible quarters

Kerber – Muguruza
Cibulkova – Radwanska
Halep – Konta
Pliskova – Kuznetsova

The defending champion is Angelique Kerber that last year defeated Laura Siegemund in the final 6-0 6-4.
