Amanda Anisimova suffered a tough blow after her beloved father Konstantin was found dead.
The American sensation was getting ready to have a deep run in the “home-slam” in New York, and she was also recovering from a lower-back injury. Everything looked set with the teenager also featuring in an interesting reportage from the ESPN ahead of the US Open.
Then Anisimova received the terrible news of the abrupt passing of her father, and she understandably withdrew from the Flushing Meadows.
The American received lovely support messages from all over the world and eventually also the USTA and the US Open released an official statement.
“The USTA and US Open send our deepest condolences to Amanda Anisimova on the passing of her father, Konstantin. Our sincere sympathies go out to Amanda and her family, and we pray that the love and support of Amanda’s many friends and extended family in tennis will help to comfort her in this most difficult time.”
