Carlos Alcaraz stepped onto the court in Tokyo with uncertainty surrounding his fitness, but emerged victorious against Zizou Bergs despite nursing an ankle injury. The Spanish star credited his rapid recovery to the work of his trusted physiotherapist.

“I had a really important day and a half to recover. I have the best physio in the world, Juanjo Moreno. The work he has done with my ankle was great.”

Playing through discomfort

Although Alcaraz managed to perform at a high level, he admitted that concerns about his ankle lingered throughout the match. His movement appeared fluid, but the mental challenge of managing pain added complexity to his performance.

“I played almost normally. Sometimes I was worried, but in general I played a great match.”

Eyes on the next round

With the win, Alcaraz advances to the next stage of the tournament, showing once again his ability to adapt under pressure. His resilience and trust in his support team have become defining traits of his rise on the ATP Tour. All eyes now turn to his next match, where fitness and form will again be under scrutiny.
