Carlos Alcaraz did not train today in Tokyo as he continues to deal with pain in his left ankle. According to Marca, the world No. 1 opted for complete rest, choosing not to risk further aggravation ahead of his scheduled Round of 16 match against Zizou Bergs.

Decision pending for next match

Alcaraz is expected to make a final decision tomorrow regarding his participation. The Spaniard is still feeling discomfort and will assess his condition before committing to play. “I was scared too, I’m not going to lie,”

Alcaraz said earlier this week after injuring the ankle during his match against Sebastián Báez in Tokyo. “When I landed on the ankle, I was worried to be honest because it didn’t feel good at the beginning”.
