Federer: “When I decide if I play the Roland Garros”

To play, or not to play: that is the question.

Roger Federer has decided to skip the clay court season, but he is still undecided if he will play the French Open. In fact, after a period of training in Dubai, Roger will make his mind if he wants to put his feet on the dirt or go straight for the grass where he has great chances to win one (or all) the tournaments that he is going to play in Stuttgart, Halle, and Wimbledon.

The Roland Garros will commence the 29th of May and Roger has not many chances to win that, but a slam is a slam. If Roger skips Paris, he won’t risk any injury, and he will have the opportunity to prepare his grass season for an entire month; this means that he will have the full preparation and energy to go deep in all the events he will play on grass.

I will decide the 10th of May

During a recent interview in Stuttgart, Roger commented

“We will decide on 10th May at the end of a training period in Dubai. I will sit together with my team, and we will take a decision about playing on clay or not. It will depend on how I feel physically and mentally. My plan is to play Roland Garros, but many things can happen before this date. I will travel to Dubai in the next few days.

I will follow the results of the clay season but will not watch many matches on television. I have to be well prepared and feel the desire to play a tournament. I don’t play just for the purpose to take part.”
