Taylor Fritz secured Team World’s triumph at the Laver Cup by defeating Alexander Zverev 6-3 7-6(4). With this result, Team World reached 15-9 over Team Europe, reclaiming the men’s team competition in San Francisco.

A third title for Team World

This success marks Team World’s third crown in the eight editions of the tournament, following consecutive victories in 2022 and 2023. The team, led by captain Andre Agassi, celebrated at the Chase Centre after confirming its growing dominance in the event.

Saturday’s clean sweep sets the stage

Team World had already built a strong advantage with a 9-3 lead after Saturday’s matches. With Sunday’s encounters worth three points each, the competition remained open, but the early cushion proved decisive in the final outcome.

Europe’s attempt at a comeback

Carlos Alcaraz and Casper Ruud gave Team Europe hope by defeating Alex Michelsen and Reilly Opelka 7-6(4) 6-1 in doubles. However, Alex De Minaur quickly restored Team World’s momentum with a straight-sets win over Jakub Mensik, extending the lead to 12-6.

Alcaraz shines but Fritz closes it out

Alcaraz kept Europe alive with a dominant 6-2 6-1 victory over Francisco Cerundolo, narrowing the gap to just three points. Zverev then had the chance to level the overall score and force a deciding doubles match, but Fritz’s composure and consistency sealed the title for Team World.
